New Eyes for the Needy is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 1932 to improve the vision of the poor.
New Eyes for the Needy purchases new prescription eyeglasses through a voucher program for children and adults in the United States who cannot afford glasses on their own. New Eyes accepts, recycles and distributes donated glasses for poor people overseas.
We operate primarily through volunteer efforts and are overseen by a Board of Trustees. The paid staff consists of an Executive Director, U. S. Voucher Program Coordinator and part-time volunteer manager.
Recycling programs, including the sorting, testing and packaging of used glasses, are operated by hundreds of adult and student volunteers.
New Eyes is a United Way Agency.
The New Eyes office, recycling center and Fabulous Finds Jewelry & Giftware Boutique are located at New Eyes headquarters:
549 Millburn Avenue
Short Hills, NJ 07078
"When my grandfather got glasses for the first time, the world really opened up for him. That's why he always donated old frames to New Eyes for the Needy. Now I'm their spokesperson and I hope to make my grandpa proud."
