ANNUAL REPORT

A LOOK BACK AT 2015-16

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Our 2015-16 fiscal year brought lots of work and excitement thanks to the enormous effort and support of so many: individual donors, foundations, corporations, and New Eyes’ devoted staff and volunteers. It was a year that allowed New Eyes to provide over 9,900 new prescription eyeglasses to United States residents living at or below the federal poverty level, a 50% increase from last fiscal year. In addition, New Eyes shipped over 245,000 pairs of used glasses to our partner missions for distribution to the poor in developing countries. Our results tell us a lot about the vibrancy of New Eyes; the work ethic of our board, staff and volunteers; and the commitment of all our supporters. Most of all, it tells us about the enormous need for our services, the need for the basic necessity of clear vision for so many disadvantaged people both here in the U.S. and abroad.

As New Eyes approaches its 85th anniversary next year, we remember our founder, Julia Lawrence Terry, and how her personal mission to provide clear vision to society’s most vulnerable has helped over 8.5 million individuals since 1932. There’s still so much work to be done and our challenges for next year inspire us to create, innovate and do more. As the English writer and philosopher William Hazlitt said, “The more we do, the more we can do”.

New Eyes will do more.
